CTFU stands for:

Cracking the F*** Up. As you can probably tell, the asterisks in this acronym are meant to hide the F-word. Like AF, WTF and GTFO and other popular acronyms. CTFU includes a certain word to add vulgarity or intensity.

What is CTFU?

CTFU full form is Cracking the F**k up, and also we can use for fun or jokes Cracking up is the act of laughing so hard that you feel like crying. You might find yourself laughing out loud when someone makes a funny comment or you see something funny right in front you. That is, you were “cracking up” at the funny incident or person who said it. Add the F-word to the mix and you have an acronym that conveys emotional intensity.

Examples of CTFU

The C in CTFU could be translated as “cracking” or “crack”, similar to the L in LOL, which can translate as “laughing” and “laughing”. Although it is a minor grammatical distinction, one might be more logical than the other if the C in CTFU refers to “cracking” or just “crack”, similar to how the L in LOL can refer to “laughing” or just “laughing” when it’s integrated into an online posting or text message.

These are just a few examples.

OMG, did that guy just miss his mouth while he was eating? CTFU! CTFU!

CTFU, I misspelled my name and almost didn’t know it. __S.10__

I was ctfu about the Instagram photos you posted last night.

How to use CTFU online or in text messages

It is important to be familiar with the basics of CTFU in order to make your message or post more understandable. These are some tips.

  • That is useful when you need to express sudden outbursts of laughter:  There are many forms of laughter, but not all laughter is the same. CTFU is an acronym that captures that uncontrollable, unexpected outburst that everyone can relate too when something truly funny happens.
  • We can be used to express your intense laughter: You can type “LOLYou can call it “Hahaha” or “Hahaha”, but none of these words convey the intensity of your laughter when you are laughing so hard that you cannot control yourself. CTFU is the ideal acronym to add that extra bit of intensity to your laughter.
  • We can be used when you need to use it for something other than LOL: Believe it or not, the longstanding “laugh out loud” acronym is slowly fading out and being replaced with newer acronyms or emojis that better express a person’s laughter. You might be able to make your voice sound more modern by replacing LOL with CTFU if you are looking to keep up with the times.

What to Avoid when using CTFU Online and in Text Messages

It’s not always a good idea to use acronyms within an online post, or text message. These are some situations we can not use.

  • That’s not a good idea to use it if you don’t wish to offend anyone by swearing: While it might be okay to use swear words when texting a friend, it’s not advisable to do so if you are messaging your grandmother on Facebook or a professional on LinkedIn.
  • It is important to use it only when grammar and spelling are important: While it’s not a big deal to check for spelling/grammar errors and use acronyms/abbreviations on social media or in text messages to save time, this all depends on your relationship with the person. You shouldn’t use CTFU, for example, in a post to a Facebook Page for a company you manage. However, you could use it if your Facebook network is mostly made up of teens.
  • This is best to not use it if the people who read your message/post don’t frequently use acronyms: Online acronyms can ruin the fun of online communication. If people read your messages or posts, they may not understand what you mean. They will have to ask what CTFU means. It may be better to not use CTFU if you know the meaning of the acronym and are unable to communicate with people online or via text.

Other Meanings Of The CTFU Slang

CTFU is the abbreviation for “Cracking the F**k up”. In the simplest of explanations, it is like a more intense version of ROFL. CTFU means when you laugh so hard that you feel like you are cracking up. It is one of those instances where you laugh so much and so hard that you have to hold your stomach and it starts aching.

Or one of those instances when someone cracks a joke, and you start laughing and then just as you are about to stop, you start laughing again, and this continues for quite some time till you end up getting tears. CTFU is said when someone says or writes or posts something extremely funny, and it makes you laugh till you are short of breath.
